TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University volleyball team went against the Elon Phoenix this afternoon. The Tigers (18-1, 8-1 CAA) had their 18-match winning streak snapped by Elon (7-10, 4-3 CAA) in five sets 21-25, 21-25, 25-21, 25-18, 14-16.

How It Happened vs Elon:
- Towson got out to a 6-4 lead in the first set, but Elon score three straight points to take a one-point lead. The Tigers were able to tie the score twice, but the Phoenix maintained a small lead all the way to the end of the first set and won 25-21.
- Towson scored the first three points of the second set, then Elon went on a 6-1 run to take a 6-4 lead. The Tigers were able to tie the score at eight, but the Phoenix regained the lead with three unanswered points to have an 11-8 advantage.
- Elon grew their lead to 17-12, but Towson was able to cut the deficit to one after a 5-1 run on five kills by five different players. Elon was able to pull away late and secure the second set 25-21.
- Towson took a 6-3 lead to start the third set, but Elon scored four unanswered points to take a 7-6 lead. The Tigers regained a three-point lead after a 6-2 run to have a 14-11 advantage.
- Towson was able to stretch the lead out to five twice, but Elon was able to reduce the deficit to two. The Tigers closed out the set with a Fay Bakodimou kill that sealed a 25-21 set win.
- The fourth set started with Elon gaining a 4-1 lead, but the Tigers scored six consecutive points to have a 7-4 lead. The Phoenix tied the score at eight after another 4-1 run, but Towson responded with three straight points to take an 11-8 lead.
- Elon was able to tie the score at 13, but the Tigers closed out the set with a 12-5 run that included two kills each from Irbe Lazda and Aayinde Smith.
- In the final set, Towson took a 4-2 lead, but the Phoenix went on an 8-1 run that included six unanswered points to have a 10-5 lead.
- The Tigers countered with a 7-2 run to tie the score at 12 apiece. Elon scored two points to reach match point, but Towson responded with two points to tie the set at 14. The Phoenix won the match after an attack error to end the Tigers' winning streak.
Inside the Numbers vs Elon:
- Five Tigers had double-digit kills with Nina Cajic and Lydia Wiers leading the way with 12. Wiers had a season-high in kills this afternoon, while Cajic totaled 12 kills for the fourth time this season.
- Aayinde Smith had a career-high 11 kills with two digs, five block assists and one assist.
- Katie McCracken registered her second double-double, with a career-high 12 digs and 26 assists, tying a career-high.
- Rachel Hess surpassed 700 career digs after registering 14 digs and tied a season-high in aces with three.
- Victoria Barrett had a double-double with a team-best 15 digs and 11 kills.
- Sarah Jordan had 26 assists for the third time this season.
