TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University women's soccer team defeated Hampton 6-0 on Sunday afternoon. In the process, the Tigers clinched their first berth in the CAA Tournament since 2014.
Towson (11-2-4, 4-1-3 CAA) got a five-point performance from
Phoebe Canoles on two goals and one assist. Five different Tigers scored goal on Sunday as Towson outshot Hampton (1-13, 0-8 CAA), 34-0.

How It Happened:
- Towson controlled play for most of the half, outshooting the Lady Pirates 13-0 in the first half.
- Reese Borden and Phoebe Canoles had a pair of back-to-back chances, but both shots were stopped in the third minute.
- Nia Christopher broke through in the 18th minute with a chance on goal, but her shot was saved from eight yards out.
- Phoebe Canoles got the Tigers on the board in the 20th minute. She took a cross from Demi Pierre and one-timed it past the goalkeeper to give Towson a 1-0 lead.
- Canoles would strike again in the 36th minute with her second of the game. Canoles took a pass from Nia Christopher and placed it home to give Towson a 2-0 lead.
- Christopher nearly gave the Tigers a 3-0 lead in the 42nd minute, but her attempt was saved as Towson took a 2-0 lead at halftime.
- Khori Banks wasted no time getting the Tigers their third goal. Banks placed home a rebound off a Krista Louro shot to increase the Tiger lead.
- Just minutes later in the 61st minute, Nia Christopher netted her 12th goal of the season. Krista Louro played a beautiful ball over the top of the defense that was flicked on by Phoebe Canoles and finished off by Christopher.
- Alexandra Rush and Danielle Campbell also added goals in the 80th and 85th minute. Rush placed home a feed from Kendall Liermann and Rebecca Groseibl to make it 5-0. Campbell added the final goals off a Liermann assist to give Towson a 6-0 win.

- The Tigers earned a spot in the CAA Tournament for the first time since the 2014 season. Their 11 wins is the second most in a season in program history.
- Towson improves their unbeaten streak to seven games and win their seventh home game of the season.
- Towson did not allow a shot on Sunday for the first time in a game in program history.
- Riley Melendez has ten shutouts this season, second most in a single season.
