TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University women's soccer team battled to a 0-0 draw against Elon to close out the regular season on Sunday afternoon.
Towson (11-2-5, 4-1-4 CAA) outshot the Phoenix (9-5-3, 5-3-1 CAA) 19-5 in the contest, but could not get anything past the Elon goalkeepers.
The Tigers will be the five seed in the upcoming CAA Tournament after the draw with Elon and a win by Drexel on Sunday.

- Towson outshot the Phoenix 19-5 and had seven corner kicks to just one for Elon.
- Both Phoebe Canoles and Nia Christopher recorded five shots to lead the Tigers with Christopher putting three on goal.
- Riley Melendez made one save on the only shot on goal she faced for her 11th shutout of the season.
How It Happened:
- Towson came out buzzing in the first half as Phoebe Canoles blasted a shot that was saved in the third minute.
- Just minutes later off a corner kick, Demi Pierre found herself in front of the net but her shot bounced of the post.
- The Tigers controlled played for most of the first half, outshooting the Phoenix 7-1.
- Maja Hansson had a good look late in the half, but her attempt was stopped as Towson and Elon went into the half at 0-0.
- Nia Christopher started the half with a good shot in the 51st minute but once again the shot was denied.
- That set off a flurry of chances but each Towson shot missed the net.
- Elon had their best chance of the contest in the 65th minute on a breakaway, but Riley Melendez was up to the challenge to make a sprawling save.
- Towson nearly took the lead late, but a shot from Khori Banks in the final minute sailed high as the game ended in a 0-0 draw.

- Towson allowed just five shots in the contest. The Tigers have given up just six shots over their last two games and 14 in their last three.
- The Tigers unbeaten streak now stands at eight with their last loss coming back on September 22.
- Riley Melendez recorded her 11th shutout of the season, one shy of the single season record.

The Tigers will be the five seed in the CAA Tournament. They will play four seed Elon on Thursday, Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. at Monmouth.
