TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University field hockey team fell to William & Mary 4-0 Friday evening in Williamsburg, Va.  

The team will travel to West Long Branch, N.J. to take on the Monmouth Hawks on Sunday (Oct. 23) at 1:00 p.m.

• William & Mary – 9-7, 3-3 

How it happened: 

• The game remained scoreless through most of the first quarter until William & Mary took the lead in the final minute. 

• Tessa Scheenstra recorded five saves in the opening period for the Tigers. 

• The Tribe followed that with two goals off penalty corners in the second period. 

Inside the Numbers: 

• The Tigers put three shots on goal in the game, one each from Lexi Bove and Ava Mowrey. 

• Tessa Scheenstra recorded 5 saves on nine shots faced in the contest. 

• The 2022 team features six seniors who have been fixtures in the lineup since arriving on campus in September 2019. After 15 games this season, the six have combined to start 246 games. Georgia Beachley and Hannah McKeon have each started 56 games, Samantha Aljets has started 38 games and Mackenzie Tillman has started 37 contests. Gianna Antone (30 starts) and Hannah King (29 starts) have also seen significant playing time.
