TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University field hockey team defeated Northeastern 4-3 Friday afternoon in the squad's CAA finale in Dedham, Mass.

How It Happened:
- Hedwig Veldhuizen drew an early penalty corner for Towson, but Hannah McKeon's shot was saved by Northeastern.
- The Huskies struck first with a goal off a penalty corner to start the second quarter.
- Gianna Antone found Sarah Hatfield for the equalizer early in the third quarter.
- Samantha Aljets took the lead for the Tigers on the second assist of the day from Gianna Antone.
- Northeastern tied the score late in the fourth quarter with Beachley off the field after being assessed a yellow card.
- Veldhuizen retook the lead off a penalty corner with less than four minutes remaining in the game, assisted by McKeon and Hatfield.
- Mackenzie Tillman extended the lead with a tip-in just over two minutes later, assisted by Aljets and McKeon.
- Northeastern pulled the score back within one to follow, but the Tigers held onto the lead in the final minutes.
Inside the Numbers:
- Sarah Hatfield ended her seven-game scoring drought with her tally in the third quarter. Her five goals this season ranks T-2nd on the team and is good for T-8th in the CAA. She also recorded her first assist of the season later in the game.
- Samantha Aljets scored her third goal in the last six games and now ranks T-3rd on the team with 11 points this season following her assist late in the game.
- Antone's two assists mark a single-game career high.
- Veldhuizen scored her third goal of the year and ranks T-3rd on the team with 11 points.
- Hannah McKeon registered two late assists in the game and now paces the team with 17 points this year (8th in the CAA).
- Mackenzie Tillman grabbed her third goal of the year in the closing minutes of the game, which is her single-season career high.
- Marked the Tigers' first non-overtime CAA win since taking down Northeastern 3-1 on the road on Mar. 27 in the spring 2021 season, and just the second non-overtime conference win dating back to 2012. The Tigers won in overtime against William & Mary (2-1) last season.
- The Tigers' five wins this season marks the most from a Towson squad in 11 years (2011, 10 wins), with one game still to go.
