TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University men's & women's swimming and diving programs completed day one of the Thomas Murphy Invitational yesterday evening.
Following the results from night one, the Tigers' women's squad scored 365 points and the men's team scored 352 points.

How it happened:
On the Women's Side
- The Towson women's relay team of Ally Frame, Tiffany Matulis, Hailey Ritter and Maddie Mince started off hot by setting a Mangione Pool record in the 200 medley relay, clocking in at 1:42.65. The previous record of 1:43.10 was set in 2019 by a Loyola relay team.
- Bridget Thomas finished third in the 500 free with a time of 5:00.25. Brooke Haag and Riley Langan both finished in the top three of the B final, tapping in at 5:06.11 and 5:12.10, respectively.
- Maddie Frick grabbed bronze in the 200 IM with a time 2:07.43. The Tigers rounded out the top six spots in the B Final too, comprised of Ritter, Samantha Casolo, Laura Gaffney, Holly Greenleaf, Matulis and Victoria Dichak.
- Katie Nunez took first place in the 50 free with a time of 23.38, just .04 seconds off the pool record set in 2021. Mince followed in third at 23.63. Janine Murphy, Ava Enriquez and Parker Schulz followed with a one-two-four finish in the B Final.
- The 800 free relay team of Dichak, Enriquez, Thomas and Nunez finished in second place with a time of 7:38.70.
For the men:
- Evan Bota, Noah Diacumakos, Brian Benzing and Michael Fazio finished second in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:29.70.
- Blakely Dean and Ryan Bookstein finished one-two in the B Final of the 500 free, clocking in at 4:38.24 and 4:38.28, respectively.
- Patrick Flint (1:50.96) and Noah Diacumakos (1:51.96) took second and fourth in the 200 IM. David Walton (1:52.83) and Kirill Pankov (1:53.02) followed them by going one-two in the B Final.
- Benzing (20.45) and Fazio (20.49) finished in second and third place in the 50 free. TJ Bearor (21.10) and Daniel McLaughlin (21.18) took the top two spots in the B Final.
- Benzing, Fazio, Diacumakos and McLaughlin finished with a 6:41.76 to take first in the 800 free relay.
Next Time Out:
The Tigers return to Mangione Pool today for day two of the Thomas Murphy Invitational. Preliminary swims are underway at 10 a.m., followed by final heats at 6 p.m.
