TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University field hockey team dropped an overtime contest to Villanova 4-3 on Sunday afternoon at the TU Field Hockey Complex.
Georgia Beachley,
Samantha Aljets and
Hannah McKeon scored for the Tigers, while
Gianna Antone,
Hedwig Veldhuizen and Beachley recorded assists.

How It Happened:
- Gianna Antone raced down the right side and found Georgia Beachley for the score in the first five minutes of the game.
- Samantha Aljets took the ball off a Villanova player's stick and turned it around for a quick score to begin the second quarter.
- Just before the end of the first half, Hannah McKeon found the back of the cage off a penalty corner. Hedwig Veldhuizen sent the corner in, also assisted by Beachley.
- Villanova's goal in the 57th minute was enough to even the score, sending it to overtime.
- The Wildcats were awarded a penalty stroke early in the overtime period, delivering them the victory on the successful golden goal.
Inside the Numbers:
- Beachley recorded her fifth goal and fifth assist of the season, and her 15 points ranks first on the team. She currently stands 9th all-time among tally leaders in program history with 19 goals. She is tied with Joann Engestrom, and trails only Christina Boarman (46), Julie Lambi (44), Ashley Bacon (27), Kajee Murangi (27), Lisa McCullen (26), Katie DeFilippo (25), Lauren Volk (21) and Kristie Blumer (21).
- McKeon has five goals and three assists in her last seven games played, and now ranks second on the team with 13 points this season.
- Aljets recorded her first goal of the 2022 season.
- The 2022 team features six seniors who have been fixtures in the lineup since arriving on campus in September 2019. After twelve games this season, the six have combined to start 230 games. Beachley and McKeon have each started 53 games, Mackenzie Tillman has started 36 games and Aljets has started 35 contests. Antone (27 starts) and Hannah King (26 starts) have also seen significant playing time.
