AMHERST, Mass. – Towson University men's basketball picked up a big 67-55 win against a quality A-10 opponent in UMass on Thursday night. The Tigers got a career-high 27 points from the Massachusetts native
Nicolas Timberlake in the win.
Towson (2-0) led for over 36 minutes against UMass (1-1). The Tigers fought off a comeback attempt that saw the Minutemen get within ten points.
In addition to Timberlake,
Cam Holden recorded his 12
th double double as a Tiger with 13 points and 13 rebounds.

- The Tigers had 17 assists on 25 baskets with Nygal Russell and Cam Holden each dishing out four.

How It Happened:
- Nicolas Timberlake got things started for the Tigers, scoring on the opening possession. Timberlake made a nice backdoor cut and slammed it home for two of his 16 first half points.
- Towson would go on a 6-0 run after a UMass three to give the Tigers an 8-3 lead.
- The Minutemen would go on a 9-0 run of their own to take the lead. That lead would be brief as Timberlake and Chris Biekeu cut the deficit to just one at the under 12 timeout.
- Towson would find their rhythm on offense, ripping off a 10-0 run to force a UMass timeout up 30-22 after Cam Holden hit a putback layup.
- The Tigers would outscore UMass 12-6 to end the half with a 42-28 lead. Nicolas Timberlake would lead the way with 16 first half points.
- The Tigers would continue their hot start extending to a 27-6 run over 10:41 to increase their lead.
- Both teams would struggle down the stretch with only five points scored in a four-minute span.
- However, Towson would end the game strong with a Charles Thompson dunk and Timberlake run out to push the lead back, holding off UMass for a major 67-55 win against UMass.
