TOWSON, Md. – Towson University swimmer Brian Benzing placed 34^th in the preliminary heats of the 50-meter freestyle at the Toyota U.S. Open Thursday morning with a time of 23.38. That time is a long course personal-best for Benzing, beating his previous best of 24.56 at the Swim Cup Amsterdam on Dec. 15, 2019. Michael Fazio clocked in at 23.47, good for 39^th in the event. Neither swimmer advanced to tonight's finals session where the top 24 times are taken in each event.
 
Benzing will race again tomorrow in the 100-meter butterfly and 100-meter breaststroke. The order of events for Friday and Saturday are listed below.
