Brian Benzing competed in the 100-meter butterfly and 100-meter breaststroke at the U.S. Open Friday, qualifying for the finals sessions in both events. His preliminary time of 54.67 in the 100 fly qualified 20
th overall, narrowly missing the B final cut. Benzing took the ninth overall seed in the 100 breast, clocking in at 1:02.35. That preliminary qualifying time was the top seed in the B final and just .16 seconds off the qualifying mark for the 2024 U.S. Olympic Trials.
In the finals session, Benzing finished fourth in the B final of the 100 breast with a time of 1:02.84, good for 12
th overall in the event. In the 100 fly, Benzing placed 20th overall with a time of 54.83.
Up Next for Towson
The next meet for the men's team is Jan. 7 vs. Navy in Annapolis, Md. The women will face off with Drexel next on Jan. 21 for Senior Day at Burdick Pool.
