SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Towson men's basketball dropped their non-conference finale, 69-59 at Bryant on Thursday. The Tigers cut the deficit to six early in the second half but could not complete the comeback.
Towson (8-5) got a season-high 19 points from
Charles Thompson, who added eight rebounds in the loss.
Nicolas Timberlake added 16 points with
Nygal Russell and Cam
Holden chipping in 10 apiece.

- Towson and Bryant were equal on the glass with 39 rebounds each.
- The Tigers had 30 points in the paint, forcing 19 Bryant turnovers.
- Thompson led four in double figures with 19 points. Sekou Sylla had a game-high of nine rebounds.
How It Happened:
- Bryant started out strong getting out to a 9-4 lead, but the Tigers responded cutting the deficit to 9-8 at the under 16 timeout.
- The Bulldogs would force a Towson timeout after a 5-0 run.
- Cam Holden would end the run with a driving layup off a pass from Rahdir Hicks.
- That would spark a 5-0 run for the Tigers to cut the deficit to six after a Charles Thompson and one.
- Towson would get to within eight points after a Nygal Russell three from the corner.
- However, the Bulldogs would lead by as many as 14 in the opening half as the Tigers trailed 38-26 at the break.
- Towson opened the half on a 7-2 run behind buckets from Russell and Thompson and a three from Nicolas Timberlake.
- Both teams would exchange buckets with Towson trimming the deficit to just eight at the under 16 timeout.
- The Tigers would get to within six after a Cam Holden and one and Nicolas Timberlake pullup jumper forcing a Bryant timeout.
- However, the Bulldogs would score four straight to regain a nine-point lead.
- Towson got the deficit to seven twice after buckets from Thompson and Timberlake, but Bryant held off the comeback 69-59 on Thursday.

- Thompson extends his streak of double digit scoring to six games that dates to Mercer on November 27.
