Towson Hangs Tough in 80-75 Loss at Clemson

CLEMSON, S.C. – Towson men's basketball battled hard with ACC foe Clemson on Wednesday night, but the Tigers fell 80-75.

Towson (8-2) went back and forth with Clemson (8-2) as there were seven lead changes in the contest. Nicolas Timberlake led Towson with 21 points and collected eight rebounds. Cam Holden added 18 points with six rebounds, and five assists in the loss.

  • Towson outrebounded Clemson 36-33 including 15 offensive boards.
  • Ryan Conway chipped in a career-high 14 points going 4-7 from three.
  • Charles Thompson also hit double figures with 11 points and nine rebounds.
How It Happened:
  • Towson got out to a quick 5-0 lead off a Charles Thompson put back and Ryan Conway three.
  • Towson would get out to a six-point lead early on, but Clemson would take their first lead midway through after starting the game 7-9 from three.
  • Nicolas Timberlake hit a tough and one to give Towson back the lead as the two teams went back-and-forth after the under eight timeout.
  • Clemson would continue their hot shooting and take a four-point lead late, but Cam Holden hit a bucket in the final seconds to pull the gap to 37-35 at the break.
  • The Tigers dominated the paint in the first half, outscoring Clemson 22-8.
  • Towson opened the second half on a 10-2 run to take a six-point lead.
  • After Clemson hit a put back, Cam Holden came down and drilled a three at the top of the key to extend the lead.
  • Clemson would fight back, ripping off a 6-0 run to take a three-point lead and force a Towson timeout.

  • Nicolas Timberlake moves into 22nd on the all-time scoring list. He now sits at 1,097 points, passing Brian Fobbs.
  • Timberlake also hit 20-plus points for the fourth time this season.
