SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Towson University softball team played for the first time in 279 days after taking a trip to the University of South Carolina – Upstate to play in the Spartan Classic. The Tigers look to come back on day two after falling to North Carolina Central and USC – Upstate in their season opener.
 
How It Happened (Game One):

• The top of the first saw the Spartan's first run of the game after a Jaidyn Hamby double brings Diamond Porter home for the RBI.
• Senior Nicole Kidwiler answered with a homer to right-center, tying up the game 1-1 in the bottom of the first.
• Both teams saw a hit each in both the second and third innings but remained scoreless until the fifth.
• After two back-to-back strikeouts from Melissa Abrahamian, the Eagles earned their second run after Jaden Davis homered to left field. 
• Kidwiler looks to collect another Tiger run with a single and a steal in the bottom of the fifth but is left on base after a strikeout.

How It Happened (Game Two):

• Briana Ramirez earned the Tigers' only hit in the second game, singling out to shortstop in the top of the third.
• Both teams remained scoreless until the Spartans earned four runs in the bottom of the fourth.
• The Spartans ran with their lead in the bottom of the sixth, collecting three more runs after a double to left field.
• The final inning saw three strikeouts for the Tigers, ending the game 0-7. 

Inside the Numbers:

• Nicole Kidwiler earns the only run on the day with a home run against NCCU. Kidwiler also picks up three hits and an RBI.
• Mackenzie Lake, Madyson Peters, and Briana Ramirez all earn a hit.
• Gracyn Houmis and Jessica Reed both added three assists to the day. Melissa Abrahamian, Madeline Harris, and Lake each had two.
• Emma Armstrong leads with eight putouts. Peters earned seven while Ramirez collects six.
