ROCK HILL S.C. – The Towson University softball team ends their last day at the Winthrop Invitational Tournament with a win against Western Carolina University (WCU), on Sunday.
 
How it Happened:

• Towson left Western Carolina scoreless until the top of the second inning when a Catamounts homer to center field brought the score to 0-1.
• The Tigers looked to match WCU in the bottom of the second when a single and a wild pitch landed Mackenzie Lake on third base.
• Both teams blanked each other until the fifth inning when a Gracyn Houmis sacrifice to right field brought pinch-runner Elizabeth Yoskowitz home to tie up the game, 1-1.
• Towson began to pull ahead in the bottom of the sixth when Nicole Kidwiler homered to right field to earn her an RBI and the second Tiger run of the day, 2-1.
• WCU tried to come back in the seventh, but the Tigers put out two players on the field before Julia Jackson struck out the last batter to secure the win.

Inside the Numbers:

• Nicole Kidwiler and Elizabeth Yoskowitz both earned runs on the day. Gracyn Houmis and Kidwiler pick up an RBI each.
• Madyson Peters collected two hits including a triple; Mackenzie Lake, Julia Jackson, Briana Ramirez, and Kidwiler all had a hit each.
• Peters put out six Catamounts; Emma Armstrong put out five while Houmis put out four.
• Lake put out a pair while Lauren Civetti, Jackson, Ramirez, and Kidwiler all put out one player.
• Ally Hickman led the Tigers with three assists; Houmis, Lake, and Jackson all had one apiece. 
• Jackson faced 25 players in seven innings to pick up the win.

Beyond the Box Score:

• Briana Ramirez leads the Tigers with 10 hits on the season. Nicole Kidwiler and Sydni Byers follow close behind with nine hits and a home run each. Byers has collected four RBIs; Kidwiler has collected three.
• In the field this season, Emma Armstrong has put out 37 players; Madyson Peters has put out 22. 
• Mackenzie Lake and Gracyn Houmis have each earned 13 assists.
