BALTIMORE, Md. – The Towson women's lacrosse team fell to No. 9 Loyola, 13-11, on Wednesday afternoon.
Despite a six-goal deficit at the end of the first quarter, the Tiger rallied to put the score within just two goals twice but could not complete the comeback.
Gabby Garrett, Kerri Thornton and Milana Zizakovic all recorded hat tricks in the contest to lead the offense. Molly Lynch and Halley Koras also added scores.

How it Happened
- Loyola scored six goals in the first quarter and to take a strong 6-0 lead. Koras got Towson on the board just before the end of the opening quarter at 1:36 with a free position goal.
- The Greyhounds added one more score to start the second quarter before the Tigers came back to net four unanswered goals. Kerri Thornton got things started, fighting through traffic to find the back of the net.
- Zizakovic and Garrett added free position scores while Lynch also earned her first goal of the season, unassisted. The run put the score within two goals, 7-5.
- Sara Tyssowski came out with five clutch saves in the second quarter to end the first half with nine total stops. At the half, the Tigers trailed, 7-5.
- Both squads came out to a slower start in the third, each scoring one goal respectively. Garrett was the lone Tiger to find the back of the net in the third, making a move on a defender right in front of the goal.
- The teams traded points in the final quarter as the Greyhounds scored a pair in the first two minutes of play to go up, 10-6. Garrett had the answer once again to secure her first career hat trick.
- Loyola piled on two more goals to go up five, 12-7.
- The Greyhounds added one final tally in the contest before Kerri Thornton and Zizakovic took over, each earning two goals to secure their first hat tricks of the season.
- Towson ended the game down just two goals to fall to ninth-ranked Loyola, 13-11.
Inside the Numbers
- Zizakovic and Garrett secured their first career hat tricks against Loyola. Kerri Thornton recorded her third three-goal game as she also had two last season. The trio led the team with three points each.
- Koras (1-1), Garrett (1-1) and Kerri Thornton (2-2) were all perfect on free position attempts.
- Wednesday's win marks the first game three Tigers have recorded 3+ goals since last season when the team met Drexel (May 7) and Kerri Thornton (3), Lindsey Marshall (3) and Blair Pearre (5) all found the back of the net multiple times.
- Blair Goodrich led the squad with one caused turnover and while Tyssowski led the team with groundballs in net.
- Tyssowski ended the day with 13 total saves in the cage for a new career high.
- Towson was a perfect 16-16 on clear attempts. After going 17-17 last week, the Tigers have yet to have a failed clear attempt this campaign.
- The Greyhounds won the draw control battle, 12-1 in the first half but the Tigers bounced back in the second half to tie, 7-7. Sarah Rhoads grabbed a team-high three draw controls.
