How it Happened

  • Towson got out to an early 5-0 lead. The team went onto extend the edge, 8-2, less than three minutes into action.
  • At the 3:16 media break, the Tigers kept the Pride scoreless for 3:25, holding the opposition to 1-of-9 from the field. Out of the stop, Hofstra found the rim to make the score 12-6.
  • Before the end of the first quarter, Narrie Dodson and Kornegay-Lucas added buckets to give the Tigers the 20-8 advantage.
  • After an early score from Hofstra, the Black & Gold took over, going on a 10-0 run halfway through the period. The Pride answered with six points to make the score 32-16 with just under two minutes left in the period.
  • Nelson hit a big and-one just before the half to give Towson the 38-21 edge. Kubek paced the team with 10 points while Rivera grabbed a team-high seven boards.
  • Both teams got on the board early in the third quarter but then struggled to find the basket for over two minutes through the six minute mark. Both squads followed up with baskets and then continued to trade points to make the score 46-33 at the 4:38 media timeout.
  • Hofstra rallied in the final minutes of the third to hit 3-of-3 from the floor and cut the deficit to 11 points, 50-39. The momentum was short-lived though as Towson quickly reversed the flow, going on an 8-0 run, hitting 4-of-4 from the floor in the span. The Black & Gold ended the third in front, 58-40.
  • The final quarter got off to a slow start, as both teams combined for just six points at the 6:56 media timeout. Out of the stop the Tigers went on yet another 6-0 run, led by Nelson with back-to-back fastbreak layups. The fast-paced play forced a timeout from the Pride with just over three minutes to play, 68-46. Hofstra ended the run shortly after the stop with scores on consecutive possessions.
  • In the final moments of play, Quinzia Fulmore, Jamey Napoleon and Mariah Wilson all entered the contest for the Black & Gold and all got on the board. Towson ended the contest with the 23-point win for its 21st win of the campaign.
