Divers Head to Delaware for Last Chance Meet

NEWARK, Del. – With the regular season winding down, members of the Towson University men's and women's diving programs make their way to Newark, Delaware for a Last Chance Meet, hosted by the University of Delaware this weekend.

Action is set for an 11 a.m. start at Rawstrom Natatorium, located in the heart of Delaware's campus. 

The Tigers will bring their full complement of divers to the Last Chance Meet
Women: Hayley Beutel, Christina Coleman, Sarah DiGaetano, Alyssa Largay, Abby O'Leary, and Ashley Sinicropi

Men: Ajani Dorner, Luke Gallagher

Both the men's and women's teams are coming off wins over the Blue Hens in last weekend's regular season finale. The men topped Delaware 165-129 on Saturday at Burdick Hall Pool while the women had a 164-136 win over the Blue Hens as well.

The Towson women had two podium finishes on each board against the Blue Hens. Christina Coleman won the 3-meter dive competition, scoring a 286.95 on her Senior Day and finale meet at Burdick Hall Pool. Alyssa Largay was five points back with a 281.25 to finish second. Another senior, Sarah DiGaetano, went fourth on the 3-meter board with a 261.15.

On the 1-meter side, Largay finished second overall with a 275.63 while Coleman was third with a 252.23. DiGaetano finished fifth with a 245.10. 

On the men's side, Ajani Dorner was a double dive winner against Delaware. The junior collected 273.45 points to win the 3-meter competition. Freshman Luke Gallagher scored a 188.03 for a third-place spot.

In the 1-meter competition, Dorner dominated, winning by over 40 points with a 280.73 over Delaware's Phillip Townsend (249.83). Gallagher finished third with a 174.68.

For his efforts, Dorner was selected as the CAA Men's Diver of the Week on Tuesday afternoon.

Following the Last Chance Meet, the Tigers are idle the following weekend before the 2022 CAA Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Championships, hosted at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center in Christiansburg, Virginia. Action is set to run from Wednesday, Feb. 16 until Saturday, Feb. 19.
