How It Happened:
- GW got on the scoreboard in the opening inning, with an Anthony Frechette RBI double bringing in an unearned run for a 1-0 Colonials lead.
- Towson hit safely in each of the first three innings but could not get anyone across early. GW loaded the bases in the fourth, then Mike Ludowig hit a ball over the centerfielder's head for a bases-clearing double and a 4-0 GW advantage.
- Towson got the bats going in the bottom of the fourth. Jack McLaughlin went opposite way for a double down the right field line, taking third on a passed ball. Burke Camper grounded out to the right side to allow McLaughlin to score. Nolan Young followed with a slap single to right-center and stealing second. Max Samson floated a ball to shallow left for a double, getting Young home to make it 4-2 GW.
- Into the fifth, Towson's first four batters reached via hit-by-pitch and three singles to bring in two runs. After another single, a ground out by McLaughlin brought in another run and gave Towson a 5-4 lead.
- Towson held off a GW rally attempt in the sixth with second and third and one out, not allowing a run thanks to a great play by Young at third to snare a ground ball and throw a runner out at home. The Tigers added to their lead: Samson lined a single to right and advanced via sacrifice bunt. Jordan Peyton launched a pitch to the left-center gap for a double, scoring Samson. Two batters later, Danny Becerra flew a ball over the left field fence for a two-run home run as Towson led 8-4.
- Noah Levin led off the top of the seventh with a home run for GW. Towson got that run back in the bottom of the eighth as Becerra got a double in the right-center gap to score Peyton.
