WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The Towson University baseball team fell in its first Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) road game of the season 15-1 at William & Mary on Friday night.
Towson (9-21, 0-4 CAA) held its opponent to just one run after the fifth inning but fell to William & Mary (16-13, 5-2 CAA) in the series opener.
Key Stats:
- Chandler Castleberry reached base twice, going 1-for-2 with a walk. Elijah Dickerson notched a double in the sixth and scored a run, finishing 1-for-3.
- Towson starter Nate Nabholz (1-4) got the loss, having four runs allowed in the first inning.
- For W&M, Joe Delossantos hit 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, two runs and three RBI. Starter Jack Cone (3-2) received the victory, going three innings with no runs, with Jacob Haney having the save off the final four innings thrown with one run and five strikeouts.
How It Happened:
- W&M got the first six runners on base, including four via hits, rallying for four runs and leading 4-0 after the first inning.
- Towson threatened in the second and third with at least two runners on in each frame but could not score. William & Mary added three more runs in the third and four in the fourth to lead 11-0.
- Following a rain delay, W&M got three more runs in the fifth. Towson got its first run in the sixth: Elijah Dickerson led off with a double and took third on a wild pitch. Dickerson scored on a double play ball to make it 14-1 W&M.
- Dom Valis and Brett Seils allowed just a combined one run in the final three innings to W&M, but Towson fell 15-1.
