How It Happened:
  • Northeastern got on the board first in the bottom of the second.  A hit-by-pitch, single and sacrifice bunt put two in scoring position.  Luke Masiuk hit a sacrifice fly to right then Danny Crossen singled up the middle as Northeastern led 2-0.
  • Towson responded in the following half-frame, led off by a Jordan Peyton double to the left-center gap.  Two batters later, Chandler Castleberry flew a ball to the right-center gap for a triple, scoring Peyton.  The very next pitch, Nolan Young lined a ball through the right side for an RBI single, tying the game at 2-2.
  • The home team rallied in the bottom half of the third, using a couple of singles and several bunts to get four runs and lead 6-2.
  • Northeastern continued to hit, adding two more runs in each the fourth and fifth to lead 10-2.
  • Into the sixth, Towson got a run back after Castleberry notched a leadoff double and took third on a flyout.  James Moses grounded out to first, getting Castleberry home to make it 10-3 Northeastern.
  • The Huskies sealed the game in the seventh, scoring six unearned runs to go up 16-3.
  • With one away, Young hit a single to center in the eighth.  Max Samson followed with a double deep to the left-center gap, scoring Young.  Northeastern did not allow another run and won 16-4.
