Men’s Lacrosse Alumni Wrap Week Three at Familiar Location

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – It was a familiar venue for the Towson University men's lacrosse alumni as the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) hosted its third week of action at James M. Shuart Stadium on the campus of Hofstra University this past Friday and Saturday.

Shuart Stadium is the first of seven sites where at least one of the current Pro Tigers played a collegiate game for the Black & Gold. This coming weekend, the PLL returns to Baltimore for a weekend of evening games at historic Homewood Field on the campus of Johns Hopkins University, just four miles down Charles Street from Towson's Johnny Unitas ® Stadium.

It was a rough weekend for the Pro Tigers as both teams, Atlas LC and Cannons LC, suffered setbacks on Long Island. Atlas LC dropped a 12-9 decision to veteran-led Whipsnakes LC on Friday before Cannons LC fell 20-9 on Saturday.

Both Cannons LC and Atlas LC play on Saturday at Homewood Field as the former takes on Chrome LC at 6 p.m. on ESPN+ before Atlas LC faces Archers LC at 8:45 p.m., also on ESPN+.

Below is a capsule of each Pro Tigers' weekend at Shuart Stadium.

Ryan Drenner '17 (Cannons LC)
Ryan Drenner finished with a two-point weekend at Shuart Stadium, cashing in a diving goal while handing out one assist. He took four shots on the day in a setback against Archers LC. The Finksburg, Marylander scored the first goal of the day for Cannons LC, cutting the Archers lead to 3-1. With 79 seconds left in the first period, Drenner fed Lyle Thompson for the Boom Squad's second goal of the day.

Zach Goodrich '19 (Cannons LC)
Zach Goodrich collected one ground ball in the setback against Archers LC. One of the top defensive midfielders in the pro ranks, Goodrich helped the Cannons' defense to limit just two midfielder to multiple points through the weekend showdown.

Koby Smith '22 (Atlas LC)
A force in transition, Koby Smith cashed in the first two-point goal of his young professional career, slinging a low-to-low shot from outside the arch to the right of Whipsnakes netminder Kyle Bernlohr. Smith scored his first career two bomb with 80 seconds left in the first quarter, the first strike of the game after a defensive stalemate through most of the first period. Smith added a ground ball to his line as well.

Alex Woodall '19 (Cannons LC)
Alex Woodall was not listed on the dress roster for Week Three. It is the second straight week he was not listed on the dress roster. If a player is not listed on the dress roster for three straight weeks, he becomes available in the player pool for other teams to utilize.
