The pair was nominated by the Towson Athletics department for this award.

Jarome and Johnson are two of the 577 nominees across all NCAA divisions for this honor, including 248 from Division I.   The NCAA Woman of the Year program celebrates the accomplishments of female collegiate student-athletes across all divisions.

Jarome led Towson volleyball to its third consecutive Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) title in 2021, earning First Team All-CAA at outside hitter.  The Wilmington, Delaware native hit .245 for 289 kills, adding 29 service aces, 283 digs and 65 total blocks.  She notched eight double-doubles and 13 double digit kill matches.  In her Towson career, Jarome was a three-time All-CAA honoree, racking up 1,033 kills, 775 digs and 174 total blocks.

Johnson set several Towson records for the Towson track & field team, holding the fastest times in the 200m dash outdoor and indoor and the 100m dash outdoor and indoor.  Earning 2022 All-CAA recognition in two events, Johnson was Towson's top sprinter, running the 100m in 11.76 seconds and 200m in 24.04 seconds, becoming the first ECAC 100m dash gold medalist in program history.  In 2021, the Catonsville, Maryland native was an NCAA East Regional qualifier in the 100m.

(from the NCAA website) The NCAA Woman of the Year program was established in 1991 and honors the academic achievements, athletics excellence, community service and leadership of graduating female college athletes from all three divisions. To be eligible, a nominee must have competed and earned a varsity letter in an NCAA-sponsored sport and must have earned her undergraduate degree by Summer 2022.  The NCAA Woman of the Year selection committee will identify the Top 30 – 10 from each division –and from there selects three finalists from each division. From the nine finalists, the NCAA Committee on Women's Athletics then selects the NCAA Woman of the Year, who will be named later this fall.
