DAVIDSON, N.C. – Georgia Beachley scored for the second time in as many games, but the Towson University field hockey team lost to Davidson, 3-1, at Carol Grotnes Belk Turf Field Sunday afternoon.
Towson outshot the Wildcats 12-11. Davidson goalkeeper Genna Barge turned away seven shots.

How it Happened:
- After a scoreless first quarter, Beachley gave Towson a 1-0 lead with an unassisted goal 2:17 into the second quarter. The senior midfielder also scored in the season opener Friday night at Appalachian State.
- The lead lasted 80 seconds before Davidson tied things up at 1-all.
- Towson took eight shots in the second quarter with five of them on cage.
- Davidson scored twice during a five-minute period in the early in the third quarter to take a 3-1 advantage.
- Towson goalkeeper Tessa Scheenstra made two saves in the third quarter to keep the score at 3-1, including stopping a penalty shot.
- The teams combined for one shot in the final 15 minutes of action.
Inside the Numbers:
- Piper Sullivan got the start in goal for the Tigers and played the entire first half. In her collegiate debut, the sophomore faced four shots, allowing on goal.
- Gianna Antone took a career-high five shots.

Towson hosts Longwood Friday afternoon in the 2022 home opener. The Lancers are 1-1 this season with a win over Queens and a loss to Richmond. Game time is 4 p.m. at the TU Field Hockey complex.
