Sylla Records Double-Double; Hot Shooting Leads Towson to 67-55 Win at Stony Brook

STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Towson men's basketball recorded their second straight win, taking care of Stony Brook, 67-55 on Saturday night. The Tigers shot 64 percent from three in the second half to pull away from the Seawolves.

Towson (10-6, 2-1 CAA) went 7-11 from deep in the second half to pull ahead of Stony Brook (6-10, 2-1 CAA). Sekou Sylla recorded his first double double as a Tiger with 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Key Stats:
  • Four Tigers hit double figures led by Nicolas Timberlake with 20 points. He added six rebounds and six assists for the Tigers.
  • Sylla chipped in 14 and 11 with Charles Thompson (12) and Nygal Russell (11) also hitting double figures.

How It Happened:
  • Sekou Sylla started out on fire scoring the first eight points for the Tigers to give them an early lead.
  • Nygall Russell would extend the lead to seven off a steal and dunk as both teams went end-to-end early on.
  • Following the under 16 minute media timeout, Charles Thompson pushed the lead back to seven with a bucket in the post.
  • Thompson would continue to control the paint, hitting an and one to give Towson their largest lead of the half.
  • The Tigers would jump out to a 13-point advantage after a Timberlake triple and Thompson jumper.
  • Towson would take a 30-22 lead into halftime behind 12 points from Charles Thompson. The Tigers shot 48 percent from the field with 18 points in the paint.
