Towson Field Hockey Takes CAA Victory Over Hofstra

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – The Towson University field hockey team defeated Hofstra 1-0 Friday afternoon in Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) play at the Hofstra Field Hockey Stadium in Hempstead, N.Y.

Records:
  • Towson – 6-8, 1-4 CAA
  • Hofstra – 5-8, 1-3 CAA

How it Happened:
  • While the Tigers were held without a shot on goal in the first half, goalkeeper Tessa Scheenstra made five saves on eight shots to keep the game level through 30 minutes of play.
  • Just over halfway through the third period, Sarah Hatfield pushed the ball up the field, finding Lexi Bove inside the circle. Bove made a quick pass to Samantha Aljets, who dribbled around the goalie and put it away for the score to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead.
  • Another Towson goal a few minutes later was called back due to the shot coming from outside the circle upon review.
  • The stout Towson defense held the Pride without a shot on goal in the fourth quarter, sealing the first conference victory of the year for the Tigers.
