TOWSON, Md.- The Towson University Tigers tennis team competed in the first day of the Greyhounds Women's Tennis Classic. The Tigers picked up 11 overall match wins including seven singles and four doubles wins. Tomorrow's matches are postponed to Sunday morning, with matches starting at 9 a.m.

Lea Kosanovic were defeated by Loyola's Liza Tankimovich/Jessica Bodewes in the doubles match 6-4. In singles action, Gray was victorious in comeback fashion over Sophia Moore after dropping the first set 2-6, but took the next two sets 6-4, 10-4. Kosanovic fell to Tankimovich 6-0, 7-6 (4). The duo will play Howard's Sophia Lindholm/Hanna Dessie in the consolation bracket finals after advancing past the semifinals due to a bye.

Olivia Rothfeld went against Howard's Sophia Lindholm/Hanna Dessie and picked up a 6-2 win in doubles play. Rothfeld defeated Lindholm in straight sets 6-3, 6-1, while Boshoff won 6-2, 6-4. In the semifinals, Rothfeld/Boshoff faced off against Loyola's Lilly Langhus and Katie Moorhead. Rothfeld/Boshoff won the doubles match 6-0 then picked up two singles victories with Rothfeld winning 6-3, 6-2 over Langhus while Boshoff won 6-0, 6-2 against Moorhead. The Towson duo will take on Howard's Imani Jean/Lauren Oliver in the finals.

Ashira Murray/Mya Spencer defeated Morgan State's Iva Jankovic/Hannah Smith 6-3 in the doubles match. Murray won her singles match due to retirement from injury, while Spencer fell to Smith 7-5, 6-2 to advance to the semifinals. The duo of Murray/Spencer took on Howard's Sifa Butcher/Ava Chambers and the Towson duo emerged victorious in the doubles match 7-6 (5). Murray won a back and forth match against Chambers 6-4, 6-7 (7), 11-9 while Spencer fell in three sets to Butcher 3-6, 6-1, 10-4. Murray and Spencer will take on Marshall's Emily Schut/Gabrielle Clairotte in the finals.
