WILMINGTON, N.C. – The Towson University volleyball team took on the UNCW Seahawks at Hanover Hall on Sunday afternoon. The Tigers (15-5, 8-2 CAA) swept the Seahawks (8-12, 5-5 CAA) 25-19, 25-23, 25-15.
Nina Cajic totaled 13 kills on .478 hitting percentage and added two service aces while
Victoria Barrett added 12 kills on .296 hitting percentage.
Key Stats vs UNCW:
- The Tigers had a .345 hitting percentage, the fourth highest total this season.
- Towson held the Seahawks to a .191 hitting percentage.
- The Tigers had the edge in digs, 37-28.
How It Happened vs UNCW:
- The Seahawks took a 6-4 lead to start the first set, then Towson took control with a 10-1 run led by Nina Cajic's two kills and ace.
- After exchanging a few points, UNCW cut the deficit to three after a 6-2 run to trail 18-15.
- The Tigers grew the advantage to six after a 3-1 run, getting two kills from Cajic.
- Both teams traded points to close out the first set with Towson taking the set 25-19.
- The teams started the second set battling back and forth, tying the score 14 times, before the Tigers scored six straight points that included a Victoria Barrett ace to have a 21-15 edge.
- The Seahawks went on an 8-3 run to trail by one, but Barrett's eighth kill of the match sealed the second set 25-23 for Towson.
- Towson opened the third set with a 6-1 run getting five kills from three different Tigers to force an early UNCW timeout.
- Out of the timeout, the Tigers scored four of the following five points to have a 10-2 advantage.
- The teams went back and forth, then Towson grew its lead to 15-5 after a 4-0 run led by Irbe Lazda's two kills
- UNCW cut the deficit in half after scoring five consecutive points, but Towson responded with a 6-1 run getting two double blocks from Aayinde Smith and Lazda to restore a ten-point advantage.
- The teams closed out the third set exchanging points as the Tigers won the set 25-15 and picked up their fourth conference sweep this season.

- The Tigers improved to 8-2 in CAA play and sit atop the standings.
- Sarah Jordan accumulated 32 assists, seven digs and four kills.
