Towson Field Hockey Falls to Richmond

TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University field hockey team fell 2-0 against Richmond Sunday afternoon at the TU Field Hockey Complex.

  • Towson – 5-8, 0-4 CAA
  • Richmond – 7-5, 2-2 A-10
 
How it Happened:
  • The Spiders took the lead just over halfway through the first period of play. Jess McMeeking picked up her fourth score of the season on the unassisted goal.
  • The second quarter saw three penalty corners and shots for the Spiders, resulting in two saves for Tessa Scheenstra.
  • The Tigers had five corners and six shots in the third period, resulting in no score.
  • Richmond's Stevie Drum scored with just under three minutes remaining in the game, assisted by McMeeking, after two saves earlier in the period for Scheenstra for a 2-0 score.
  • Towson had two shots saved by Kristen Rake following the second goal but couldn't connect.
 
Up Next:
The Tigers head to Hempstead, N.Y. on Friday, Oct. 13 to face Hofstra in CAA play.
