Three Hit Double Figures to Lead Men’s Basketball to 65-55 Win Against Nicholls on Friday

TOWSON, Md. – Towson men's basketball picked up a 65-55 win against Nicholls on Friday night at TU Arena. The Tigers had three hit double figures led by sophomore Christian May with 16 points.

Towson (6-6) had three hit double figures with May leading the way. The Tigers held the Colonels (4-8) to just 35 percent from the floor and forced 15 turnovers in the win.

Key Stats:
  • May went 6-14 from the floor and had an assist and an steal.
  • Nendah Tarke added 13 points and a team-high six rebounds with Dylan Williamson adding 10 points.
  • Towson shot 40 percent from the floor and assisted on 14 of 23 made baskets.
How It Happened:
  • Towson raced out to a quick 9-0 lead, going 2-3 from three to open the game.
  • The Tiger defense continued to stand tall over the next four minutes as the Tigers forced a pair of turnovers and held the Colonels to just 1-10 from the floor.
  • Nicholls would cut the deficit to three points with eight minutes to go before the Tigers would rip off a 9-0 run to take a double-digit lead that was capped off by a Tomiwa Sulaiman dunk off a Tyler Tejada steal.
  • That lead would balloon to 14 points at the break after Christian May banked home a three with six second left to give Towson a 28-14 lead at halftime.
  • May and Chase Paar led the Tigers with six points each as the Tigers assisted on seven of 11 made buckets in the half.
  • Both teams came out of the locker room struggling from the floor with both teams having three-minute scoreless droughts.
  • Nendah Tarke would push the Tiger advantage to 16 with nine minutes to go after drilling a three off a rebound that forced a Nicholls timeout.
  • Towson would see their double-digit lead cut to single digits but the Tigers would hold off the Colonels for a 65-55 win.
