TOWSON, Md. – Towson men's basketball shot 80 percent from the floor and went 12-12 from three in the second half to defeat Delaware 95-72 on Thursday night. The Tigers had four score in double figures led by
Nicolas Timberlake with 29 points.
Towson (18-10, 10-5 CAA) outscored the Blue Hens (13-15, 5-10 CAA) 53-39 in the second half and went on a streak hitting 15 of 16 straight shots in the second half.
Key Stats:
- Timberlake led the way with 29 points, going 11-15 from the floor and 7-10 from three.
- Ryan Conway and Charles Thompson each had 14 points with Nygal Russell adding 11 on 3-4 shooting from three.
- Cam Holden dished out a game-high 11 assists and grabbed seven rebounds. The 11 assists were a new career-high.
- Towson once again outrebounded their opponent, 34-20 scoring 16 second chance points.
How It Happened:
- Delaware raced out to a 7-2 lead before the Tigers ripped off a 10-2 run, capped with a Nicolas Timberlake three at the under 16 timeout.
- The Tigers would continue to extend the lead, going on a 14-2 run over a 4:41 span to push the lead to 26-11.
- Towson would push out to a 33-13 lead with 8:30 to go, but the Blue Hens would claw back to within nine just five minutes later.
- Charles Thompson ended the scoreless drought with a layup after the under four timeout.
- Rahdir Hicks pushed the advantage to nine at the break with a driving layup just before the buzzer to make it 42-33 Tigers at the break.
- The Tigers came out buzzing to start the second half, shooting 4-5 in the early part of the half to push their lead back to double digits.
- Towson would push out on an 8-0 run with six straight points coming from Timberlake that forced a Delaware timeout.
- The Tigers would take control midway through the half, connecting on 15 of 16 straight shots to build a 29-point lead.
- That hot shooting would continue the rest of the way with the Tigers finishing the second half shooting 80 percent from the floor and going a perfect 12-12 from three, with the Tigers defeating the Blue Hens 95-72.

- Nicolas Timberlake moved into 12th place on the all-time scoring list and is now four points shy of 11th place.
- The 16 made three pointers ties a program record for most in a single game. The mark was also achieved last year against both Coppin State and Hofstra.
- Towson improves their home record to 91-41 overall and the Tigers are now 9-2 this year at SECU Arena.
- Towson saw their second largest crowd of the season come out to SECU Arena with 3,010 fans seeing the Tigers win on Thursday. It is the second time this season a crowd of over 3,000 was in attendance.

The Tigers will host North Carolina A&T for their final home game of the season on Saturday, Feb. 18. Towson will honor seven seniors pregame, and the game will also serve as the Autism Advocacy game with tip-off at 4 p.m.
