Towson Softball Falls in Season Opener, 3-2 Against Binghamton

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Towson softball opened the 2023 season with a 3-2 loss against the Bearcats on Friday afternoon. Madyson Peters led the Tigers with a pair of hits while driving in one run in the loss.

Towson (0-1) jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first, but Binghamton (3-4) put up a three-run third inning to defeat the Tigers.

Key Stats: How It Happened:
  • The Tigers jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Briana Ramirez led off the game with a single to left and would advance on a passed ball.
  • Mackenzie Lake would drive home Ramirez on a single to center and an error to make it 1-0 Tigers. Just four pitches later, Lake would score on a Madyson Peters single to center.
  • Towson starter Erin Brown kept the Bearcats silent through the first and second innings, but Binghamton broke through in the third, capitalizing on a Tiger error to take a 3-2 lead.
  • The Tigers would threaten in the fifth inning with Alyssa Myint getting to third on a stolen base and throwing error but was stranded. Towson would get a pair on base in the next inning but could not bring the runners home as the Tigers fell 3-2.
