GREENVILLE, S.C. – Towson softball defeated Sacred Heart 9-6 and lost to Binghamton 2-0 on the final day of the Furman Invitational.
Emma Armstrong provided the heroics against the Pioneers with a go-ahead three-run home run.
Towson (3-2) got the go-ahead home run as part of a six run fourth inning to defeat Sacred Heart (2-3). The Tigers would get runners in scoring position, but the Bearcats (5-5) held Towson off the scoreboard.

- Emma Armstrong had the game-winning hit, lacing a three-run home run down the left field line.
- Mackenzie Lake drove in three runs on a double with Alyssa Myint and Madyson Peters driving in two runs and one run respectively.
- Paige Kostick earned her first win of the season, tossing 3.1 scoreless innings of relief, scattering two hits.

- Towson wasted little time jumping out to an early 3-0 lead. Briana Ramirez led off the game with a single and would later score on a Madyson Peters sacrifice fly.
- Just two batters later, freshman Alyssa Myint scored Cori Jones and Emma Armstrong with a bases clearing triple to left center to give Towson an early 3-0 lead.
- Sacred Heart would respond in their half of the fourth putting up six runs to take a 6-3 lead.
- The Tigers would respond in their half of the inning. Mackenzie Lake tied it with a bases clearing three-RBI double.
- Just two batters later, Emma Armstrong smashed a three-run home run down the left field line to put Towson back in front 9-6.
- That would be all the Tigers would need as Paige Kostick picked up her first win of the season in 3.1 innings of relief.

- Neither team could get much going through the first three innings, with each starting pitcher holding the other side quiet.
- Towson had a chance to score first in their half of the third. Briana Ramirez worked her way to second off a single and stolen base. Mackenzie Lake would come up and hit a single, but Ramirez would be thrown out at the plate to end the inning.
- The Bearcats would open the scoring in the fourth inning, getting a two-run home run to take a 2-0 lead.
- Towson would threaten in the fifth with Ramirez working her way to third off a single, stolen base and wild pitch, but she would be stranded on base.
- Binghamton would hold the Tiger offense in check the rest of the way as the Tigers fell 2-0 in the weekend finale.

The Tigers will head back to South Carolina next weekend for a three-game series with Charleston Southern. The two will play a doubleheader on Saturday, Feb. 25 with a single game on Sunday, Feb. 26.
