Ashira Murray Signs for Towson Women’s Tennis

TOWSON, Md. – Towson University women's tennis team has confirmed that Ashira Murray will join the tennis team next season, announced Head Coach Jamie Peterson. Murray joins Mya Spencer as the second signing of the 2023 class.
 
"We are so happy Ashira Murray has committed to play tennis for Towson University, she brings lots of international tennis experience from the UK and is a hard worker. Our team will only be strengthened by Ashira's addition", said Coach Peterson.
 
Murray joins Towson after playing four years at Birkenhead School in England. She represented Cheshire at National County Cup in the U14 and U18 Women's categories. The native from Birkenhead, England won the Cheshire County Closed Women's Doubles Title. Murray reached the doubles semi-final in the International Tennis Federation (ITF) J4 in Santo Domingo along with six other ITF doubles quarter-finals at Edinburgh, Wrexham, Santo Domingo, Loughborough, Liverpool and Stavanger. She has won multiple regional tournaments at Sunderland, Wales, Midlands and Bolton. Murray was a former U16 and U18 Top 50 in the United Kingdom while also being a former Open female top 100 in the United Kingdom.
 
The Tigers will continue their spring season against Coppin State at Coppermine Racquet and Fitness Club in Pikesville on Saturday, Feb. 25th at 6 p.m.
