TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University baseball team dropped a tight game 5-2 against Mount St. Mary's to open the Wake Forest Tournament in Winston-Salem, N.C.
Mount St. Mary's scored first on a Shane Wockley single in the third inning. The Tigers answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning off a double and groundout to take the lead. A single swing of the bat proved to be the difference as the Efrain Correa grand slam in the fifth got the Mountaineers a 5-2 win.
Key Stats:
- Casey Bishop recorded his second consecutive game with an RBI.
- Nate Nabholz tossed three hitless innings in relief, striking out four.
- The Mount outhit the Tigers five to four, with that one extra hit deciding the game on Correa's fifth inning grand slam.
How it Happened:
- With a runner on third in the top of the second, Shane Wockley singled to center, sending home Jayson Kramer for a 1-0 lead for the Mount.
- Back-to-back doubles from Bryce Frederick and Brian Heckelman in the bottom of the inning tied the game for the Tigers. After a sacrifice bunt moved the runner to third, a Casey Bishop groundout gave the Tigers the lead.
- Bobby Spencer took the mound for Brett Seils to start the fourth inning.
- With the bases loaded in the top of the fifth, Efrain Correa homered to right, giving the Mount a 5-2 lead.
Inside the Numbers:
- Nabholz recorded his second consecutive multi-inning hitless appearance. He has yet to give up a hit or run through 6.0 innings pitched, striking out nine and walking five.
- Brian Heckelman's second inning RBI double was the Tigers' first hit of the season with a runner in scoring position.

Towson will play Wake Forest tomorrow at 4 p.m.at David F. Couch Ballpark. The Tigers will then face Binghamton at 10 a.m. on Sunday.
