TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University baseball team fell to Wake Forest 18-1 Saturday night at David F. Couch Ballpark in Winston-Salem, N.C.
Wake Forest (8-0) got on the board first with two runs in the bottom of the first. Towson (0-6) answered with an RBI double from
Casey Bishop in the top of the third. The Demon Deacons tacked on five in the bottom of the third and scored 11 more runs in the next five innings.
Key Stats:
- The Tigers were outhit 17 to six in the game. Two Tigers, James Moses and Jordan Peyton, had multi-hit games on the night.
- The Demon Deacons had six extra base hits in the contest, compared to Towson's one.
How it Happened:
- With runners on first and second in the bottom of the first, Brock Wilken's RBI double to right center sent home the first run for Wake Forest. A groundout to short brought home a second run, making it a 2-0 game.
- Justin Rebok came to the mound for Shayne Clowar after the first inning.
- Leading off the top of the third, Jordan Peyton doubled to right. James Moses moved him to third with a sacrifice bunt. Casey Bishop's double to left center put the Tigers on the board.
- In the bottom of the third, the Demon Deacons put up five runs on five singles and two walks, bringing the score to 7-1.
- Wake Forest pushed another run across on a Kyle Joye RBI double in the bottom of the fourth.
- In the bottom of the fifth, Tommy Hawke scored from third on a passed ball. A Chris Katz double down the left field line with the bases loaded made it an 11-1 game.
- With runners on second and third in the bottom of the sixth, a single scored two more for Wake Forest.
- With a runner on in the bottom of the eighth, Adam Cecere homered down the right field line making it a 15-1 game. A double with a man on first, a passed ball and a single later in the inning scored three more.
Inside the Numbers:
- Bishop has hit safely or had an RBI in every game so far this season.
- James Moses picked up his first multi-hit game of the season, his first since May 20 of last year against Charleston where he went 2-for-4.
- Jordan Peyton got his first multi-hit game of the year and first since May 19, 2022 against Charleston, where he finished 2-for-3.

Towson's first homestand of the year includes a Wednesday, March 1 matchup against Villanova at 2 p.m. and a four-game series versus Eastern Michigan March 3-5 at Schuerholz Park.
