CHARLESTON, S.C. – Towson softball battled, but ultimately fell 3-2 at Charleston Southern in the series finale on Sunday afternoon. The Tigers jumped out to an early lead, but a pair of late inning runs gave the Buccaneers a 3-2 victory.
Towson (4-4) got a pair of hits from
Briana Ramirez and had the tying run on base to lead off the seventh, but Charleston Southern (6-5) held off the Tigers for a 3-2 win.

How It Happened:
- Towson got things started early with a pair of runs in the top of the first. Briana Ramirez opened the game with a single and would later score on an Emma Armstrong RBI single.
- Alyssa Myint would double the very next at bat to plate Armstrong to give Towson a 2-0 lead.
- Both sides would be held silent over the next two innings before Charleston Southern cut the Tiger lead in half with a run in the fourth. The Buccaneers would eventually take the lead with two runs in the bottom of the sixth with a home run and RBI single.
- The Tigers would leadoff the seventh with a single, but the runner would be stranded as the Tigers fell 3-2 in the series finale.

The Tigers will make their 2023 home debut with the TU DeMarini Invite next weekend, March 3-5. The Tigers will be joined by Bucknell, Bryant, and Coppin State in the three-day tournament. Towson will face Bucknell on Friday, March 3 at 12:30 p.m. before taking on Bryant at 3 p.m.
