Timberlake Leads Three in Double Figures in an 86-72 Win Against Hampton

TOWSON, Md. – Towson men's basketball picked up their sixth straight home win with an 86-72 victory against Hampton on Wednesday night in front of 2,140 fans. Nicolas Timberlake had his second straight 30-point game to lead three in double figures.

Timberlake netted 31 points on 11-17 shooting, going 6-10 from three with five rebounds. Both Cam Holden and Charles Thompson recorded double doubles in the win.

  • Holden scored 22 points with 12 rebounds, his second straight 20-point, 10-rebound game at home.
  • Thompson had 11 points and 11 rebounds with 11 of his rebounds coming on the offensive glass.
  • Towson shot 47 percent from the floor and 46 percent from three, outrebounding Hampton 46-33.
How It Happened:
  • Towson got out to a 7-4 lead behind a pull-up jump shot and transition dunk from Nicolas Timberlake.
  • The Tigers would go on a streak making four of five to take a 26-20 lead at the under eight media timeout.
  • Towson would continue to extend their lead pushing out to an 11-point lead thanks to a 6-0 run over a 1:24.
  • A pair of Cam Holden free throws gave Towson their largest lead of the half at 12, but the Pirates ended the half with four straight to cut the Tiger lead to 42-34 at halftime.
  • Timberlake and Holden each reached double figures in the first half with Timberlake scoring 17 and Holden chipping in 14.
  • Both teams struggled out of the gate in the second half going a combined 1-14 in the first four minutes.
  • The Tigers would find their footing, ripping off an 8-0 run over 1:36, capped by a Charles Thompson put back to force a Pirate timeout leading 55-41.
  • Hampton put together a run to cut the Tiger lead, but Charles Thompson ended the run with a thunderous put back slam.
  • Timberlake had the final blow with a triple from the top of the key to push the lead to 16, their largest of the night with six minutes to go.
  • Towson would keep a double digit lead the rest of the way, closing the game with an 86-72 win to improve to 8-2 at home this season.

  • Nicolas Timberlake reached double figures scoring for the seventh straight game and hit 30-plus points for the second straight game.
  • In his last two home games, Cam Holden is averaging 23.0 ppg, 10.5 rpg, and 7.0 apg.
