TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University women's basketball team went against 7-seed Monmouth Hawks on Sunday afternoon. The Tigers (21-11, 13-5 CAA) fell to the Hawks 80-55 in the CAA Championship. The Black & Gold will play in WNIT against an opponent to be determined later.
Alexia Nelson tied a season-high with 13 points, while
Patricia Anumgba finished with 11 points and eight rebounds.

- The Hawks shot 51% from the floor while holding Towson to 34.9%.

- Alexia Nelson's three and a couple of free throws by Skye Williams cut the deficit to eight, but Monmouth responded with points on consecutive possessions to regain a 12-point lead.
- A couple of late jumpers by Patricia Anumgba cut the deficit to eight again, heading into the second quarter.
- The teams traded early baskets, then Anissa Rivera converted an and-one opportunity to cap off an 8-0 run after Rivera jumped the passing lane and finished the layup while being grabbed to trail 28-27.
- Both teams continued to go back and forth, but Monmouth finished the second quarter on a 10-3 run to lead 44-34.
- The third quarter started with both teams exchanging baskets with Kylie Kornegay-Lucas cutting the deficit to seven midway through the third.
- The Hawks closed out the third on an 8-2 run to lead by 13 heading into the fourth.
- Both teams opened the fourth trading baskets, then Monmouth sealed the game with an 18-5 run to win 80-55.
