TOWSON, Md – Towson softball picked up a double header sweep of Charleston on Saturday with a 3-2 game one win and 6-3 win in the nightcap.
Madyson Peters had a pair of multi-hit games with
Briana Ramirez adding three hits in game two.
Towson (11-9, 2-3 CAA) used an early three-RBI double in game one to take the lead while capitalizing on three Cougar errors in game two.
Key Stats – Game One:
- Starter Maddie Gardner went the distance for a complete game six hitter with four strikeouts.
- Madyson Peters was the lone Tiger with multiple hits going 2-3 driving in all three runs.
How It Happened – Game One:
- Charleston got on the board early, capitalizing on a walk and RBI double to take a 1-0 lead.
- Towson would respond in their half of the first. Briana Ramirez led off with a walk and would steal second.
- After Cori Jones singled and advanced on the throw and Mackenzie Lake walked, Madyson Peters would unload the bases with a three-run double to left center to give Towson a 3-1 lead.
- Towson would threaten in the middle innings getting runners on base, but Towson would leave six on base throughout the game.
- Charleston would cut the Tiger lead to 3-2 in the sixth, but Maddie Gardner shut the door in the seventh to give Towson a 3-2 win in game one.

- Briana Ramirez led the Tigers going 3-4 from the plate with an RBI and two runs scored.
- Madyson Peters followed up her strong game one with another two-hit game in game two.
How It Happened – Game Two:
- Towson struck first in the first inning. Briana Ramirez led off with a single and would work to third. With two out, Madyson Peters stole second allowing Ramirez to come home to give Towson a 1-0 lead.
- Ramirez would drive in a run in the second with an RBI single to short to score Alyssa Myint to make it 2-0.
- Charleston would cut the lead in half with a solo home run in the third to make it 2-1.
- The Cougars would take the lead in the fourth with a pair of runs to give Charleston a 3-2 lead.
- Towson would respond with four runs in the fifth to take a 6-3 lead off a pair of Cougar errors.
- Paige Kostick would come in an provide two innings of relief to earn her first save of the season in a 6-3 win.
