GREENSBORO, N.C. – Towson softball battled back from a deficit for the second time this week, but the comeback effort falls short in a 4-3 loss at UNCG. The Tigers were down 3-0 and would tie the game in the seventh, but the Spartans would hold on for the win.
Towson (12-12) went hitless into the sixth inning before
Mackenzie Lake smashed a two-run home run to cut the deficit to one.
Cori Jones would tie it in the seventh, but UNCG would get the walk-off win in the bottom of the inning.

How It Happened:
- UNCG got on the board first in the bottom of the first inning. The Spartans capitalized on a sacrifice fly to take a 1-0 lead.
- Towson would threaten in the third. Emma Armstrong and Ally Hickman would reach after being hit by pitches. They would move to second and third after a ground out, but it was a line out that ended the inning.
- After the Spartans took a 3-0 lead after five innings, Towson found their bats in the sixth.
- Kristin Toland led off the inning with a pinch-hit double for the first hit for the Tigers in the game.
- With two outs, Mackenzie Lake came up and smashed a two-run home run to left to cut the deficit to 3-2.
- The Tigers would continue to fight. Cori Jones would lead off the seventh with a solo home run to tie the game at 3-3. Towson would load the bases later in the inning, but a strikeout ended the inning.
- However, the Spartans would get the game winning run in the bottom of the seventh to defeat Towson 4-3.
