TOWSON, Md. – Towson softball picked up a pair of wins against Maryland Eastern Shore on Wednesday afternoon outscoring the Hawks 25-5 over the two games. The Tigers were led by
Mackenzie Lake who went 5-6 over the two games driving in three runs.
Towson (8-5) trailed by three in game one but rattled off 11 straight runs to take game one from the Hawks (2-9). The Tigers scored multiple runs in every inning of game two for the double header sweep.
Key Stats – Game One:
- Sydni Byers drove in three runs with Emma Armstrong adding four RBIs for the Tigers.
- Eight of the nine Tiger starters recorded a hit with Armstrong and Byers recording three respectively.
- Mackenzie Lake went 2-2 with a double and a triple in the win.
- Maddie Gardner picked up her fourth win of the season with a complete game, four strikeout performance.
How It Happened – Game One:
- The Hawks would jump out to a 3-0 lead after the first three innings.
- Towson would respond in the fourth putting up eight runs. Emma Armstrong led off with a walk and would later score on a Sydni Byers triple that also scored Elizabeth Yoskowitz and Mackenzie Lake to make it 3-3.
- Madyson Peters would take the very next pitch and lace a double to score Byers to give Towson the lead.
- Ally Hickman, Armstrong and Cara Bohner would all driving in runs in the inning to give the Tigers an 8-3 lead.
- The Tigers would end the game with three runs in the fifth on a Peters RBI single and Armstrong two-RBI double to give Towson an 11-3 win.
Key Stats – Game Two:
- Lake continued her strong day going 3-4 with three RBI in game two.
- Peters also had a three-hit game with Hickman adding two hits.
- Erin Brown earned her third win of the season with a complete game, four strikeout performance.
How It Happened – Game Two:
- Towson wasted little time pushing two across in the bottom of the first. Byers doubled home Lake and Peters singled home Byers to give Towson an early 2-0 lead.
- The Tigers would score three in the second on a double steal and RBI ground outs from Briana Ramirez and Mackenzie Lake to take a 5-0 lead.
- That lead would extend to 9-0 in the third. Hickman singled home Peters who led off with a double. Cori Jones would score on a double steal with Hickman scoring after a throwing error allowed Yoskowitz to reach.
- Mackenzie Lake would cap the inning with an RBI single to make it 9-0.
- After the Hawks scored two in the fourth, Towson exploded for five runs to take a 14-2 lead. The Tigers capitalized on a throwing error and RBI hits from Cara Bohner, Nadia Martyniuk, and Lake.
- The Tigers would hold off the Hawks in the fifth for the two-game sweep of Maryland Eastern Shore.

Towson will hit the road for their CAA opener against UNCW on Saturday and Sunday, March 11-12. The Seahawks and Tigers will play two on Saturday with a single game on Sunday. Both days start at 1 p.m. and will air on FloSoftball.
