TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University baseball team dropped Saturday afternoon's game against Elon 17-5 in Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) play at Schuerholz Park.
Elon (18-9, 9-2 CAA) got on the board in the first with one run on three hits. Towson (8-21, 2-9 CAA) took the lead in the home half on a pair of doubles. The Phoenix cut that lead to one in the second and took a 6-3 lead in the top of the third on three hits. The teams exchanged a run each in the fourth to make it a 7-4 game. A three-run homer in the fifth made it 10-4. The Tigers got one back on a single up the middle in the sixth. The Phoenix tacked on 7 more runs combined in the seventh and eighth innings to make it a 17-5 game.
Key Stats:
- James Moses led the charge at the plate with a 3-for-4 day, including one run. Jeremy Wagner went 2-for-4 with two runs batted in.
- Towson reliever Andalo Santangelo (0-1) recorded the loss, his first decision of the year. Dom Valis closed the game with one hit surrendered and one strikeout in one inning of work.
- Elon reliever Joe Savino (3-0) picked up the win after tossing 3.1 innings with two hits and one unearned run surrendered while striking out three. Elon first baseman Cole Reynolds finished the day 4-for-5 with four runs scored and four RBI.

- Elon got on the board in the first on a Luke Stephenson single to center with runners on first and second.
- The Tigers took a 3-1 lead in the home half on a pair of RBI doubles from Bryce Frederick and Jeremy Wagner.
- Elon cut the Tiger lead to one in the second on a fielder's choice grounder to short.
- The Phoenix took a 6-3 lead in the third on a pair of singles, scoring two runs on each.
- Connor Coolahan made it 7-3 Phoenix with an RBI single up the middle in the fourth.
- Jordan Peyton's home run down the left field line in the home half made it 7-4.
- Reynolds hit a three-run home run to left in the top of the fifth, making it a 10-4 game.
- Bobby Spencer's single up the middle in the sixth cut the deficit to five.
- Coolahan's triple to right center in the seventh extended the Elon lead to 12-5.
- The Phoenix got five more in the eighth on a bases-loaded walk and a grand slam to follow, bringing the game to a 17-5 final.
