HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – The Towson University baseball battled back-and-forth against Hofstra Friday afternoon, falling late 14-10 at University Field in Hempstead, New York.
Towson (10-24, 2-11 CAA) opened the scoring with two runs in the second on a solo home run and an RBI double two batters later. The Tigers extended the lead by posting four runs on four hits in the third. Hofstra (13-19, 7-9 CAA) responded with four runs of their own in the home half to cut the lead back to two.
Elijah Dickerson extended the lead to four again on a single to right center in the fifth. A two-run shot in the bottom frame made it an 8-6 game. The Pride took their first lead of the game with three runs on three hits and an error in the bottom of the seventh.
Reyce Curnane's two-run homer to right in the eighth took the lead back for the Tigers, making it 10-9. In the bottom of the eighth, the Pride scored five runs on six hits to take a 14-10 lead. As the Tigers went down in order in the ninth, that was the final score.

- Reyce Curnane batted 4-for-4 in the game with two RBI on a home run in the eighth. Elijah Dickerson went 3-for-5 with two doubles and five RBI. John Cristino finished the day 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI.

How it Happened:
- John Cristino started the scoring in the top of the second with a solo home run to left field. After a Casey Bishop single to follow, Elijah Dickerson hit an RBI double to right field to extend the lead to two.
- In the third, a walk and single put runners on first and second. Cristino knocked home the third run for the Tigers on a single through the left side. After a pitching change, Casey Bishop hit a single up the middle to make it 4-0. Dickerson picked up his second double of the game, knocking home two more, but was caught at third trying to extend his double to end the inning.
- In the bottom frame, a single-walk-single sequence loaded the bases before a double sent two runners home to put the Pride on the board. A single to left center two batters later made it a 6-4 game.
- In the fifth, Dickerson picked up his fourth and fifth RBI in the game on a single to right center to extend the Tiger lead to four.
- In the home half, a home run to right center with a runner on made it an 8-6 game.
- A sacrifice fly after back-to-back singles in the seventh brought the Pride within one. Later in the inning, two runs scored on an error allowing the ball to get through the right side for the first deficit the Tigers faced in the game.
- In the eighth, Reyce Curnane hit a two-run homer to right field to give the Tigers the lead again.
- Hofstra took the lead back in the bottom frame with five runs on five hits, scoring on a single, double and home run to make it 14-10.

The Tigers return to University Field tomorrow for game two of the CAA series against Hofstra. Game time has been moved to noon to avoid the anticipated inclement weather.
