TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University baseball team posted 20 hits to secure an 18-5 victory over Monmouth Friday afternoon at Schuerholz Park in Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) play.
Towson (12-26, 3-13 CAA) jumped out to a 3-0 lead on a home run to left field in the first. The Tigers got two more in the second on a double to center with runners on first and third. Bishop's solo home run in the fourth extended the lead to six. A double with two runners on and a home run to follow made it a 10-0 Tiger advantage after six frames. Monmouth (12-22, 3-14 CAA) got on the board in the seventh on a sacrifice fly to center after a triple to lead off the inning. The Tigers posted seven in the home half, highlighted by a two-RBI double, a single and a
Jack Lawrence grand slam. The Hawks answered in the top of the eighth with a triple with runners on to score two, followed by a single to shortstop to score a third in the inning. A sacrifice fly later in the inning made it a 17-5 game. A bases loaded walk in the bottom half of the eighth scored the 18
th and final run of the game for the Tigers. With the last three outs in the ninth retired, that was the final score Friday afternoon at Schuerholz Park.

- The Tigers outhit the Hawks 20 to seven in the game with five Tigers picking up multi-hit games. Casey Bishop batted 3-for-5 with five RBI and three runs scored on two doubles and a grand slam. Reyce Curnane finished the day 4-for-5 with four RBI and two runs scored. Elijah Dickerson was a double short of the cycle with his 4-for-5 day, recording two RBI and two runs scored.
- Towson starter Ethan Pecko (1-1) registered the win after tossing six scoreless innings with six strikeouts while surrendering just three hits, marking his first win with the Tigers. Jordan Luton closed out the game with a hitless final frame while recording two strikeouts.
- Monmouth starting pitcher Dante Ciaramella (0-3) took the loss after allowing six runs, five earned, on nine hits in five innings pitched. Shortstop Austin Denlinger bated 2-for-3 with a triple and one run scored.
How it Happened:
- Curnane opened the scoring in the home half of the first with a three-run home run to left field.
- Back-to-back singles from John Cristino and Bobby Spencer put runners on first and second. Three batters later, Bishop hit a double to center field to score both runners, making it a 5-0 game.
- In the fourth, Bishop hit a solo home run to extend the lead to six.
- With runners on first and second, Jeremy Wagner's double down the right field line found grass to score two more for the Tigers. Elijah Dickerson followed with a home run to right field, his first of the season, for a 10-0 game.
- Momouth got on the board with a sacrifice fly in the seventh after a triple to set it up.
- Back-to-back walks to start the bottom frame put runners on before Casey Bishop hit a double to left to knock both home. Curnane followed with a single to right to score Bishop. Later in the inning with the bases loaded, Jack Lawrence pinch hit for Spencer and hit a grand slam to left center field, making it a 17-1 game.
- In the top of the eighth, a triple with runners on the corners made it 17-3. A single to short on the following at-bat allowed another run to score. The Hawks got one more later in the inning on a sacrifice fly to right center field for a 17-5 game.
- A Jeremy Wagner walk with the bases loaded in the bottom frame brought the score to 18-5, which became final after Jordan Luton recorded the last three outs in the ninth.
Inside the Numbers:
- Reyce Curnane picked up his second four-hit game in a row and third in his last five. He has batted 8-for-11 with nine RBI and three home runs in his last two games and now leads the team with eight home runs. He's tied for second on the team with six multi-RBI games despite missing 15 games to start the season.
- Dickerson now has back-to-back 4-for-5 games at the plate with six total RBI in the span, finishing a double short of the cycle on the afternoon. He leads the team with 14 multi-hit games and eight multi-RBI games.
- Pecko recorded his longest outing this season with 6.0 innings pitched while notching six strikeouts, one short of his season high. The win was Pecko's first with Towson in his second season with the team.
