Towson Women’s Lacrosse Uses Strong First Quarter to Remain Perfect in CAA Play

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The Towson University women's lacrosse team traveled to Williamsburg to face William & Mary on Saturday afternoon. The Tigers (9-3, 4-0 CAA) were victorious against the Tribe (6-6, 2-2 CAA) 13-10.
 
Lindsey Marshall and Milana Zizakovic finished with four points each while Blair Pearre added her fifth hat trick of the season. Towson remains perfect in conference play and is tied with #6/7 Stony Brook atop the CAA standings.

  • The Tigers outshot the Tribe 35-22, including a 12-3 advantage in the first quarter.
  • Towson forced 19 William & Mary turnovers this afternoon.
  • The Tigers picked up 19 ground balls, their third-highest total this season.
  • Jo Torres finished with nine saves for the Tigers while the Tribe's Elise Palmer totaled 13 saves.
How It Happened vs William & Mary:
  • Blair Pearre gave Towson a 1-0 lead a minute into the game after Gabby Garrett found Pearre open in front of the crease.
  • The Tigers doubled their lead on Lindsey Marshall's 24th goal of the season after she beat her defender one-on-one and fired a shot near post.
  • Marshall got her second goal a minute later when she fired a shot that found the top corner to give Towson a 3-0 advantage with 11:32 remaining in the first quarter.
  • The Tribe scored their first goal of the day, but Lindsay Clarke scored her 14th goal of the year on a free position attempt to maintain a three-goal edge.
  • Paige Gilbert scored on the following possession for William & Mary to cut the deficit back to two.
  • Pearre made the score 5-2 after she ran past her defender and rifled a shot past Palmer for her second goal of the game.

  • Zizakovic scored her 30th of the season to start the third quarter on a give-and-go with Halley Koras to take a 9-7 lead.
  • Towson took a 10-7 advantage after Zizakovic ran from behind the net and shot while falling to complete her hat trick.
  • The Tribe cut the deficit to two to start the fourth, but Samantha Intrieri scored her first of the season after she went coast-to-coast to take an 11-8 edge.
  • William & Mary cut the lead back down to one after two goals midway through the fourth to trail 11-10.
  • Marshall sealed the win for the Tigers with two late goals, including a woman advantage goal to secure a 13-10 victory over the Tribe.
