MONTREAL – Towson men's basketball closed out their Canada trip in style with a 69-39 win over Concordia on Tuesday. Towson held the Stingers to just six points in the fourth quarter in the win.
Three Tigers hit double figures led by
Charles Thompson with 15 points in the win.
Key Stats:
- Thompson added seven rebounds including three on the offensive glass.
- Tyler Tejada had a 13-point game with seven rebounds. Christian May added 12 points as eight different Tigers scored in the contest.
- Towson shot 42 percent from the floor, holding Concordia to just 23.7 percent shooting in the contest.
How It Happened:
- Both teams struggled from the floor early. Towson would get out to an 8-2 lead, but Concordia would cut into the deficit, forcing a Towson timeout with the Tigers in front 11-10.
- Towson would end the first quarter on a 4-0 run, capped by a Dylan Williamson driving layup to take a 15-12 lead after one.
- The Towson defense stepped up in the second quarter. The Tigers pushed ahead by double digits thanks to buckets on four straight possessions.
- The Tiger defense would stand tall all half, giving the Tigers a 38-21 lead at the break. Christian May led the Tigers with 10 points in the first 20 minutes.
- Both sides would struggle early, but the Tigers would go on a run that was capped by a Chase Paar layup to put Towson up by 20.
- Concordia would battle back, forcing a couple Towson turnovers that led to a Tiger timeout.
- Towson would distance themselves from the Stingers thanks to a Charles Thompson and one to take a 20-point lead into the fourth.
- The Tigers would hold Concordia to just six points in the fourth to close out their Canada trip with a 69-39 win on Tuesday.
