TOWSON, Md. – Towson women's soccer got a second half goal from 
Phoebe Canoles in a 1-0 win against Howard on Sunday night. The Tigers are 2-0 to start the season for the first time since the 2007 season.

Nia Christopher shot in the 48
th minute. The Tigers are 2-0 to start the season for the first time since 2007.

How It Happened:
	- Towson got on the front foot early with Canoles putting two shots on net in the opening minutes.
 
	- Howard would then apply pressure, forcing the Tiger defense to step up. Riley Melendez kept the game scoreless in the 30th minute with a diving save from in close.
 
	- Jasmine Hamid had a good look just four minutes later, but her free kick just sailed wide of the net.
 
	- Following a scoreless first half, the Tigers had a chance from Demi Pierre early. Pierre had a good look on goal, but her shot was saved.
 
	- The Tigers would finally break through in the 48th minute. Nia Christopher took a pass from Alexandra Rush and put a shot on target. The ball would bounce off the post and Phoebe Canoles would be there to clean up the miss to give Towson a 1-0 lead.
 
	- That would be all the Tigers would need as the Towson defense stood tall the rest of the way. Howard would have a late chance off a corner kick, but a foul was called as the game ended with a 1-0 Tigers win.

	- Nia Christopher recorded her fourth point of the season and now has 65 career points, moving her to within five points of Christi Landi in second place.
 
	- Riley Melendez recorded her 20th career shutout. She is currently second all-time just eight shy of tying Tina Steck.
 
	- The Tigers are 2-0 to start the season for the first time under head coach Katherine Vettori and for the first time since 2007.
