TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University field hockey team dropped the opening Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) tilt against the William & Mary Tribe 3-2 Friday afternoon at the TU Field Hockey Complex.
Sarah Hatfield and
Gianna Antone each picked up goals in the game, bringing their respective totals to five and four.
Madisyn Howard added her second assist of the season.

How it Happened:
- Halfway through the opening period, Sara Bartzen found Pyper Friedman at the top of the attacking circle, who connected on the goal.
- With five minutes remaining in the first half, Lauren Curran picked up the rebound off of Lonica McKinney's shot, and hit a reverse stick shot into the back of the cage for a 2-0 lead.
- Seven minutes into the third, Sarah Hatfield sliced through the defense on a breakaway and cut the deficit in half.
- Friedman got her second goal of the game off a penalty corner 10 minutes into the third period. She inserted the ball on an attacking penalty and Mollie Schuma found her on the left side of the goal for the score.
- Halfway through the fourth, Madisyn Howard connected with Gianna Antone for the score, bringing the Tigers within one.
- The Tigers were awarded two penalty corners in the final 30 seconds of the game, but couldn't connect to send the game to overtime.

- Sarah Hatfield and Gianna Antone have planted themselves among the top point scorers in program history with 23 and 22 respectively. They stand 39th and 41st al-time respectively.
