TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University field hockey team fell 5-1 to Drexel Friday afternoon in Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) play at Buckley Field in Philadelphia.
Megan Popp scored for the Tigers, with assists from
Hannah McKeon and
Annie Keele.

- Towson – 4-5, 0-2 CAA
- Drexel – 6-3, 1-1 CAA
How it Happened:
- The opening quarter was a tight defensive battle on both sides. Drexel posted two shots to Towson's one, with Tessa Scheenstra recording the only save of the period.
- Drexel got on the board at the start of the second period. Scheenstra saved the first shot from Pien Elsen, but Marti Sanabria put away the rebound for a 1-0 lead.
- Following a Drexel green card, the Tigers evened the score with less than 20 seconds to go in the half on a penalty corner. Annie Keele inserted to Hannah McKeon, who found Megan Popp for the chip-in score.
- To start the second half, Eline Di Leva found Val Van Hellemont who scored, giving the Dragons a 2-1 lead.
- Halfway through the fourth, the Dragons scored off an awarded penalty corner, giving them a 3-1 lead.
- With a few minutes remaining in the game, Van Hellemont passed to Natali Foster in the circle from the left corner. Foster was able to tuck it inside the post for a 4-1 Drexel lead.
- With less than 30 seconds remaining, Foster then found Van Hellemont to make it a 5-1 final.
