TOWSON, Md.- The Towson University Tigers tennis team finished day one of the Navy Blue & Gold Invitational. The Black & Gold will resume the invitational tomorrow. Tomorrow will feature the semifinals of main draw & consolation doubles, along with the quarterfinals and semifinals of main singles and consolation singles
Singles
A Flight Singles
Mya Spencer went against Navy's Emily Tannenbaum and was bested by Tannenbaum 6-1, 6-1. Spencer will take on Maggie Gehrig in the consolation bracket quarterfinals.
B Flight Singles
Olivia Rothfeld took on Navy's Samantha Johns in the first round and dropped the match 6-0, 7-5. Rothfeld will face Aina Plana Ventosa in the consolation bracket.
C Flight Singles
Ashira Murray defeated William & Mary's Parker Debnam in the first round in straight sets 7-6, 6-1. Murray will face Manci Pal in the quarterfinals.
D Flight Singles
Lea Kosanovic faced off against Navy's Kate Lee and fell 6-1, 6-2. Kosanovic will compete against Gabriela Glickstein in the consolation bracket.
Chandré Boshoff went against UNCW's Elif Albayrak today. The two battled against each other with Albayrak taking the first set 6-2, then Boshoff responded by taking the second set 6-4. Albayrak won the tiebreaking set 10-7 to take the match. Boshoff will take on Aili Hietala in the consolation bracket.
Doubles
Flight A Doubles
Mya Spencer/ Lea Kosanovic faced off against William & Mary's Emma Fernald/ Yu Chen in the first round and fell 6-4. In the consolation quarterfinals, Spencer/Kosanovic defeated the duo of AP Shumate/ Lucia Gomez 6-2. The Towson duo will take on McHaley Ho/ Paige Gilbert in the semi-finals.
Flight B Doubles
Chandré Boshoff/ Olivia Rothfeld went against Navy's Makaila Cheng/Olivia Fermo in the first round, but dropped the match to the Navy duo 6-3. In the consolation bracket quarterfinals, the Towson duo took on Katelyn Hubbard/ Alicia Eberwein and fell 6-3.
